Apple and Dulce de Leche Crumble

Apple and dulce de leche crumble in a small bowl with spoon and dish of crumble at the back

Apple and Dulce de Leche Crumble Recipe

Ingredients (serve 4 to 6 people)

400g apples (approximately 3 to 4 apples, peeled and core removed, cut into 2cm cubes)

200g dulce de leche (milk jam)

For the crumble mix

40g plain flour

20g almond meal

80g oats

50g brown muscovado sugar

20g chopped roasted hazelnuts

50g diced unsalted butter

1. Preheat the oven to 180ºC (160ºC fan).

Put all the dry ingredients for the crumble mix in a baking bowl. Add the diced butter and rub it into the dry ingredients until the mixture looks like large breadcrumbs.

2. Place the cubed apples and the dulce de leche in a large bowl and mix well until all the apple pieces are coated.

Transfer into a baking dish and cover with the crumble mix.

3. Place the dish on the middle shelf of the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes (until the crumble is golden on top and the apple and dulce de leche mixture is bubbling).

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Or just eat it on its own like I do.

Bon appétit!
